Overview

The table overview in the Medicine Module presents a pre-defined structured display of all medicinal items. It includes columns specifying attributes like medicine categories, medicine names, quantities, expiration dates and more. This layout offers an organized view of medication inventory, facilitating effective management and monitoring.

Description

The Medicine Module is a vital component within the maritime safety management system, dedicated to overseeing and managing all aspects of medicinal inventory on board the vessel. This module ensures that the vessel are well-equipped with the necessary medicines, their quantities are tracked, and their expiry dates are monitored, all in accordance with international maritime safety regulations and requirements. 

The primary function of the Medicine Module is to maintain a comprehensive inventory of all medicines and medical supplies available on board a vessel. It includes a structured database that lists each medicine along with critical details such as:


Name

This displays the names of the medicines or medical supplies present in the inventory. It provides a clear identification of each item.


Quantity type

The "Quantity Type" column specifies the unit of measurement used to quantify each medicine. For example, it might indicate whether the quantity is measured in milligrams (mg),  tablets (PSC), or other relevant units.
The list of available quantity types can be pre-defined, or adjusted in "Admin Settings - Quanitity Types".


Medicine category

This column categorizes medicines and medical supplies into different groups or categories. It helps organize the inventory, making it easier to locate specific types of medicines when needed.

Min. quantity

The "Min. quantity" column specifies the minimum acceptable quantity of a medicine that should be maintained in the inventory at all times. If the quantity of a medicine falls below the minimum required level, it will be indicated with a red marker or color, highlighting the need for attention and restocking.


Current quantity

This column displays the current quantity of each medicine or medical supply available in the inventory. It provides an up-to-date count of what is on hand.


Expires

The "Expires" column indicates the expiry date for each medicine. It is a crucial piece of information to ensure that expired medicines are not used and are promptly replaced before they expire.


Refrigerated

This column displays an icon to indicate whether a particular medicine requires refrigeration or special storage conditions to maintain its efficacy and safety.


Status

The "Status" column often uses color codes or labels to represent the status of each medicine. For example, medicines with expiration dates in the future may be marked as "OK", while those that have expired or are running low on quantity may be labeled differently, such as "Expired" or "Expiring".


Detailed view

The detailed view of an individual medication item within the Medicine module provides a well-organized presentation of that specific item, offering information and a variety of options pertaining to it. This view enables a thorough exploration of the medication's specific details and related actions.
Upon accessing the detailed view of an individual medication item, you will find options for editing key data for the item and additional information surrounding the item.

Placement

This information specifies the exact location of the medication item within the system, which is essential for helping crew members navigate the medicine system structure more effectively.

Description

The "Description" field serves to provide a concise information on key attributes, intended use, or unique characteristics of a medicinal item. It enables the users to gain a clearer understanding of the medication's properties, facilitating safe and informed decision-making regarding its usage, dosage, and potential effects.


Stock-tab

The "Stock"-tab is a dedicated section within the medicinal items system that provides a comprehensive record of all changes made to individual medication items. It offers a chronological account of updates, modifications, and relevant information related to the specific medicine. This log offers a detailed insight into the evolution of the medicine item within the system, including usage records and complete quantity updates. Each event will also display the individual user who is responsible for that particular change.


Use of medicine

To utilize a specific medicine, access the desired medicinal item and click on the "Use" button located in the top right corner. A pop-up window will then appear, prompting you to enter the quantity used and provide the reason for using the medication:
