Release Notes – December 2025
Shorter sprint with focus on optimization.
The December release is a smaller update with a primary focus on system optimization. We are seeing rapid growth in the system, both in terms of the number of users and the volume of data being added. As a result, we have allocated time to background cleanup and optimization. While these improvements may not be very visible, they will significantly enhance system performance. From January onwards, this will allow us to place greater focus on developing new functionality.
Here are the highlights:
🌟 New Features
📢 Communicate with crew and Next-of-Kin (SMS and Email)
We have launched a new feature for sending SMS and email to crew members and next of kin. This is a good solution for emergency situations, but also if you want to send out a reminder in connection with a crew change.
You can now target messages to:
The Entire Organization:
Reach absolutely everyone in the company.
Specific Crews:
Filter based on Trips (Active, Inactive, or Completed) – perfect for reaching those who are on board.
Specific Groups:
Send only to specific groups like Engine department or Bridge department.
Shifts:
Need to reach just Shift A? No problem.
Next of Kin:
This is a vital safety feature. In critical situations, you can now send messages directly to registered next of kin (and yes, the system handles multiple contacts per employee).
SMS sending costs are billed retrospectively every six months at 0.99 NOK per SMS.
📊 Dashboard: The Start of Something Important
This month, we’re introducing a new framework for building a living dashboard in CCOM X. The goal is a complete dashboard that evolves continuously, turns activity into insight, and helps both operational teams and management detect changes early, and act with confidence.
The First Feature Launch: We’re kicking off with a trends widget that turns reporting history into direction, showing how report types develop over time on a vessel or across the fleet, enabling you to identify shifts and patterns.
The Potential: This is an important milestone toward more action-oriented insights, helping you move from “what happened” to “what needs attention next.” It also lays the foundation for adding new capabilities faster and more consistently in the releases ahead, as the underlying structure and standards are now in place. Think of this as the first building block in a modular dashboard, where upcoming widgets adds layers of insights across the platform.
The Vision: Make data easier to understand and use, supporting better decisions and proactive actions that strengthen safety and efficiency at sea. We’re committed to delivering a dashboard that remains relevant over time, improving continuously and expanding with new insights that reflect reality onboard and across the fleet. More capabilities will follow with each release through 2026.
Feedback & Ideas: Have suggestions for dashboard capabilities, features, or insights you’d like to see? We’d love to hear from you. Send feedback, questions, or requests to development@ccom.no.
📋 Total Renovation of Due Lists.
We have done a proper "spring cleaning" under the hood of the Due Lists for Documents, Maintenance Jobs, and Medicines. While it might look similar at first glance, you will notice that the lists are more stable, load smarter, and handle your data better. The goal is that you should always be able to trust 100% in what requires your attention.
🐞 Bug Fixes & Cleanup
We have used this opportunity to clear out the clutter to ensure the best possible user experience.
🎨 Interface and Usability
Dark Mode:
We fixed a bug in SurveyJS where every other row became unreadable in "Dark Mode." You can now work in the dark again without squinting.
The Vanishing Button:
Solved a mystery where the "Perform" button on maintenance jobs wasn't fully visible. It is now back where it belongs.
Scrollbar in TBSM:
Fixed an issue with the scrollbar in the competence matrix, so you can actually see the full overview.
Language Adjustment:
We have corrected inconsistent capitalization in job titles and removed some typos in the menus.
🛡️ Logic and Access
No Access, No Button:
Fixed a bug where the "Perform" button for Tasks/Drills was clickable even if the user lacked permissions. The door is now locked if you don't have the key.
No More Email Spam:
Solved a critical bug that caused the system to send the same email multiple times to the same user in certain cases.
Search Filters:
Fixed an annoyance where clearing filters didn't properly remove your search phrase.
🔧 Tech Snacks
Smarter Link Handling:
We have improved how the system interprets URLs, especially when entering links starting with "www". They now work as they should.
Security:
Added new Security Headers to make the application even more resistant to attacks.
Semine Integration:
Ensured that SFI codes are now correctly included in the integration.
The development team thanks you for the past year and wishes you all a very merry and safe Christmas! 🎅🚢
