Work & Rest registration is based on a combination of automated time tracking and manual adjustments to handle exceptions and real-life scenarios.
We’ve received feedback that the automated tracking works well for fixed schedules, but that manual adjustments have been more cumbersome.
To address this, we’ve introduced a new drag and drop functionality.
This functionality is only available to onboard administrators, typically the Master and Chief Officer.
Any changes made will be automatically approved when the onboard admin saves them.
There are no changes to the underlying logic used to calculate work and rest compliance.
As an onboard administrator, you now have access to a new view showing all crew members on board for a specific date:
“Daily Work Overview”
In this view, you can take an existing work/rest period and extend or adjust it directly.
To view the full day, including upcoming hours, you can activate the “Show Future” option.
In the top right corner, you’ll find three tools to help you make adjustments:
This allows you to modify existing timelines or insert new periods where needed.
When manual changes are made, the system will update the coloring of the timeline, making it clear which entries have been manually adjusted.
If your adjustments result in a regulatory violation, the system will notify you.
You can then:
Any comment added when saving a violation will be included in the Work & Rest report.
Users without onboard admin privileges will continue to register their time in the same way as before.
In some cases, companies have experienced challenges getting Work & Rest reports fully signed, for example when a crew member has left the vessel or is otherwise unavailable.
To address this, we’ve introduced:
Once closed, the report will receive a new status.
CCOM recommends that a non-conformity (NC) is also logged in the reporting module in these cases, as this functionality is intended for rare situations only.
If the crew member later becomes available and wants to sign:
To make it easier to locate specific reports, we’ve introduced improved filtering and sorting options.
You now have:
These are available at the top of the overview screen, and will be particularly useful during inspections and audits.
